In preparation for the show’s return on April 21, 2020, Legends of Tomorrow released a return trailer teasing some of the action in the remaining seven episodes of season five. So far, they’ve taken on real and fictional baddies from the past and are now seeking the loom of fate.

Legends has established itself as the lovable, well-intentioned screwup sibling of the Arrowverse that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is always quick with pop culture references and homages. This season has already seen spoofs of a documentary, ’80s slasher movie, and Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, and they’ve encountered people like Genghis Khan and William Shakespeare.

If the return trailer is any indication, things are going to get crazier for the back half of the season. It begins with a Star Trek homage with Sara Lance’s voiceover warning, “Space the fatal frontier,” followed by warnings regarding use of the loom of fate. Then it jumps to a return to college, followed by flashes of the Legends on public access TV, others hunting the loom, and zombies.

Joining the Star Trek references are an apartment that resembles the set of Friends, a few kids’ show jokes, and a zombie gathering with one that appears to be a nod to Trash from Return of the Living Dead.

Legends of Tomorrow, and the rest of the Arrowverse, returns over the next week on The CW.
