Lady and the Tramp Remake Casts Yvette Nicole Brown
As revealed via Variety, Community actress and recurring Talking Dead guest Yvette Nicole Brown has been cast for Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp. Brown is the latest addition to a cast that includes Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok) as Lady, Justin Theroux (The Girl on the Train) as Tramp, as well as Kiersey Clemons (Flatliners), Ashley Jensen (Ugly Betty), and Thomas Mann (Kong: Skull Island).
Brown is reportedly playing the role of Aunt Sarah, the owner of the mischievous Siamese cats Si and Am, who plays a large role in launching the film’s plot. After her cats convince her Lady has attacked them, Aunt Sarah take’s Lady to get a muzzle. Running away from her owner Lady meets Tramp and the pair set off on their romantic adventure.
Along with playing Shirley Bennett for five seasons on the sitcom Community, additional credits for Brown include recurring roles on Drake & Josh, The Odd Couple, The Mayor, Mom, and AMC’s The Walking Dead after show Talking Dead.
Originally released in 1955, Lady and the Tramp followed the misadventures of a Cocker Spaniel named Lady and a stray called Tramp. Across multiple rereleases the Disney classic has grossed $93 million. The upcoming film is the latest in Disney’s planned live-action remakes, which includes plans for The Lion King, Dumbo, Mulan, and Pinocchio.
Charlie Bean (Lego Ninjago) is directing the live-action adaptation, which is scheduled to premiere on Disney’s new streaming service.
