So its Labor Day weekend already and I bet you are probably not even thinking about what Labor Day exactly stands for other than a day off from work. Well, to be honest, we are no different than you! But just the same we think it’s important to point out that one of the many different things celebrated on Labor Day is the 8 hour work day. That’s right, not only did we get Labor Day in 1884, but in 1886 we got the 8 hour work day; as opposed to the 21 hour work day. So when you are relaxing in your lazy boy this following Monday flipping through the many different TV marathons that should be running or flipping through the Hake’s Auction online, you can remember that you are also celebrating the fact that when you return to work, you won’t be expected to work 48 hours with no break!

To celebrate this concept, this week’s sales list, brought to you by Hake’s Americana, has a few items to help throw the reminder in for you from the working class. One classic example of the once more common norm of America is the Yellow Kid and we have two items featuring this fellow. One item is a particularly neat Yellow Kid figural pin cushion and the second item is a button featuring the Yellow Kid advertising for cigarettes. While you are relaxing in the comfort of your own home this weekend you may also want to get the Tarzan’s Greatest Jungle Adventure record set for your listening pleasures. Of course if you’d rather have some fun with some friends you can always invite them over to play with your 1940s Donald Duck Playing Card game. Whatever it is you decide on, Hake’s hopes you have a safe weekend filled with fun and that you take a moment to check out this week’s sales list at www.hakes.com.
