Kirby’s Original Art for X-Men #1 At Heritage
Two pages of original art from X-Men #1 are featured in the Heritage Signature Comic and Vintage Art Auction. The two pages by Jack Kirby and Paul Reinman feature Cyclops, Iceman, The Beast, and the Angel. Also appearing is Professor Marvel who is preparing for the arrival of Marvel Girl. And that is just the first page! The second features Magneto wrecking havoc at a U.S. Army Base.
If superhero art isn’t your cup of tea, the event holds several Peanuts dailies and Sundays. Other artists featured include Winsor McCay, Sheldon Mayer, Wally Wood, Joe Jusko, Mike Kaluta, John Byrne, Dave Berg, Alex Raymond, Don Rosa, and many others. Make sure you take a look at the Far Side by Gary Larson. Original art by Larson seldom comes onto the market. Last week Scoop highlighted the listings for Cark Barks. You can read about those works here.
The auction is currently open for bidding. It is scheduled to start ending on February 28, 2008. You can register online and bid in real time. The auction also holds an impressive collection of Mile High Copies of Adventure Comics, CGC graded books, lots from The Toronto Collection, The Tom Fagan Diamond Run Collection, and much more. The selection of pulps offered is one of the most impressive in recent auction history.
