King Kong Will Film Down Under
Earlier this week it was announced that the new King Kong movie will be filmed in Australia. In addition to being shot at Village Roadshow Studios, the movie will head down under to southeast Queensland for on location filming. Parts of the movie will also be filmed in other international locations, though they have not been announced yet.
This is the third big budget American film to head to Australia for an upcoming project. It follows the news that Thor: Ragnarok and the next installment in Ridley Scott’s Alien franchise will be filmed there. Earlier this year Johnny Depp finished Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in Queensland, Australia.
Kong: Skull Island will tell the origin story of the giant beast. The ensemble cast is led by Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, and John C. Reilly. Kong: Skull Island will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Single Dads), and was written by Max Borenstein (Minority Report), Derek Connolly (Jurassic World), John Gatins (Real Steel), and Dan Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy). It is set for release on March 10, 2017.
In their current auction, Hake’s Americana & Collectibles is selling a selection of King Kong collectibles. Among the listings are King Kong games, both unused and come with all parts. One was made by Ideal in 1963 and the other by Milton Bradley in 1966. Another great piece in the auction is the Talking King Kong & Bobby Bond factory sealed Mattel hand puppet.
