June 14-15: Eternal Con
For those who attended 2013’s first edition of Eternal Con on Long Island, it comes as little surprise that there is a second one. Under-served for many years, the audience swarmed the event at the Cradle of Aviation Museum’s Reckson Center in Garden City, New York.
This year’s two-day show will be held Saturday June 14, 2014 from 10 AM to 7 PM and Sunday, June 15, from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Comic book creator guests include Amanda Conner (Power Girl, Harley Quinn), Jimmy Palmiotti (Jonah Hex, Painkiller Jane), Adam Kubert (Avengers, X-Men), Larry Hama (G.I. Joe), cover artist Bob Larkin, Sean Chen (X-Men, Iron Man), and Billy Tucci (Shi, Sgt. Rock: The Lost Battalion), among others. More than 70 comic book professionals are expected to be in attendance.
Celebrity guests include Rebecca Mader from Once Upon a Time and Lost, Daniel Cudmore (X-Men: Days of Future Past and the Twilight series), Ray Park (G.I. Joe and Star Wars), Lee Arenberg (Once Upon A Time and Pirates of the Caribbean), Steve Cardenas (the original Red Power Ranger), Zach Galligan (Gremlins), Catherine Mary Stewart (The Last Starfighter), WWE wrestler Mick Foley, Tiamak (The Last Dragon), and Paris Themmen (Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory). Additional guests will be announced.
A Cosplay Parade has been added to the show this year and will be held on Saturday, and Sunday will include free light saber training for the kids (every child who participates will receive a free light saber). The costume contest returns this year as well. Details on all of the show’s events are available on their website.
Several local charities will be the focus of Eternal Con’s fundraising efforts, including The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, Hurricane Sandy Relief, and The Special Olympics (to be confirmed). In addition, Long Island Blood Services will be in attendance and will be conducting a special blood drive. Eternal Con will also be supporting the fundraising efforts with a series of charity auctions and a portion of the ticket sales from “Cosplay Night” at CitiField on June 12 presented by Eternal Con.
Details on panels and other events at the convention can be found on their site.
