Jem and the Holograms Comics Head to BOOM! Studios
A band of stylish rock stars are set to perform once again in comics. BOOM! Studios, in collaboration with Hasbro, has acquired the license to publish Jem and the Holograms comics.
The new comics will begin in 2026. BOOM! will also collect previously published Jem and the Holograms comics in a Kickstarter campaign that launches in November 2025.

The Jem animated series debuted 40 years ago in 1985, and ran for three seasons through 1988. The show followed record company owner Jerrica Benton and her onstage persona Jem, the lead singer of Jem and the Holograms. The band worked hard for their success, had a rivalry with a band called The Misfits, Jerrica supported foster children, known as the Starlight Girls, and she protected her hologram technology from people who wanted to steal it.
While the show was on the air, Hasbro released a wave of eight dolls that were packaged with a cassette tap featuring music from the show. A one-shot comic was released in 2011, then IDW published a comic series in 2015. A live-action film was also released that year, starring Aubrey Peeples in the lead role.
“I was part of the team that brought Jem and the Holograms back to comics in 2015 and saw first-hand the positive impact our stories had on a broad and diverse community of readers,” BOOM! Studios Publisher Michael Kelly said. “I could not be happier than to be working with Jerrica, Kimber, Stormer and the rest of the group (yeah, even Pizzazz) once again.”
