Jem and the Holograms Comic Collection Heads to Kickstarter
Ten years after Jem and the Holograms debuted in comics, they are back in the Jem and the Holograms: Truly Outrageous Comic Collection. A BOOM! Studios Direct Reserve Campaign, the collection is being released under license from Hasbro.
Jem and her sisters are back to rock on the stage and entertain multiple generations of fans. They are joined by The Misfits and The Stingers in the ongoing battle over music, fame, and all the drama that comes with it.
The Jem animated series debuted 40 years ago in 1985, and ran for three seasons through 1988. The show followed record company owner Jerrica Benton and her onstage persona Jem, the lead singer of Jem and the Holograms. The band worked hard for their success, had a rivalry with a band called The Misfits, Jerrica supported foster children, known as the Starlight Girls, and she protected her hologram technology from people who wanted to steal it.

This is the first time that the entire Jem comics run is offered in one collection. The deluxe hardcover edition will be offered in a Kickstarter campaign that will run for 30 days. Throughout the campaign, BOOM! will present special surprises, product reveals, and even hidden stretch goals.
“I was part of the team that brought Jem & The Holograms back to comics in 2015 and saw first-hand the positive impact our stories had on a broad and diverse community of readers,” BOOM! Studios Publisher Michael Kelly said. “I could not be happier than to be working with Jerrica, Kimber, Stormer and the rest of the group (yeah, even Pizzazz) once again.”
