MyComicShop listed the James Strand Collection on Monday, June 15, 2026, which racked up a little over $190,000 in sales in the first 24 hours. The story behind the impressive collection is a tragic one, with much of it having been burglarized from Strand’s home after his death. So far, only a portion has been recovered by the estate. Scott Brown who handled the sale of the books for the family’s estate, recounted the full story on how Strand built the collection and how it was lost in a series of blog entries on SubStack.

Brown worked with MyComicShop’s Chief Comic Officer Este Bagato to bring the books to their, and the sales came quickly. Highlights have included Boy Comics #11 CGC 9.6 Edgar Church (Mile High) selling for $22,000 and Zip Comics #31 CGC 9.6 Edgar Church (Mile High) reaching $25,250 – both in the first few minutes of availability. As of the time of writing, there are still some great comics and pulps from the group available for sale including the first appearance of Airboy in Air Fighters Comics #2 CGC 9.2 Pennsylvania and Funny Pages #41 CGC 9.4 Edgar Church (Mile High).

MyComicShop is continuing to look forward to their July Prime Auction, opening on America’s 250th anniversary the Fourth of July. There are almost 1,500 comics, pulps, and original art pieces currently assigned to the auction with more being added daily. Some highlights from the Silver and Bronze Age rounds include a Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 0.5, Ghost Rider’s debut in Marvel Spotlight #5 CGC 9.0, and a copy of the notorious Air Pirates Funnies #1 CGC 9.8.

MyComicShop is always buying and accepting consignments from across the country. For anyone considering selling or consigning a larger quantity of comics, MyComicShop can schedule a trip immediately to pick up a sufficiently large collection. Collectors can also schedule a pickup to coincide with one of their convention trips in 2026.

They will be at Baltimore Comic-Con in Baltimore, Maryland on September 25-27, buying comics and accepting consignments at their booth and pick up material in the surrounding areas and on their journey to Texas. At OAFCon in Norman, Oklahoma on October 23-25, MyComicShop will buy books and accept consignments.
