James Spader, the main villain of this fall’s NBC series The Blacklist, has been cast as Ultron in Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is scheduled to be released on May 1, 2015, Marvel Studios announced Thursday.

Spader is a veteran of both the big screen (most recently Lincoln, but also Stargate) and the small screen (Boston Legal and The Office).
