Ithaca College to Host Ithacon 45
The Comic Book Club of Ithaca will host Ithacon 45 live in the spring of 2022. According to Ithacon, it is the nation’s second longest running comic convention and 2022 marks its 45th edition of celebrating pop culture, fandom, and comics for enthusiasts of all ages. The convention will be returning to an in-person format after going virtual in 2021. This event will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 23-24 in Ithaca College’s Emerson Suites and Williams Hall.
This event features cosplay, gaming, a wide variety of collectables, and vendors will provide food and snacks at the event. Initial guests and vendors include artist-entrepreneur Isaac Bidwell, Caytlyn Brooke, the author of Among the Hunted, and Meagan Cook will display her manga.
Tickets will be on sale soon at www.ithacon.org. Anyone who buys a ticket before April 15 will receive a special swag bag with comics and promotional material.
Ithaca College students enrolled in the School of Business’ “Ithacon: Promoting and Managing Conventions” course will help plan and manage Ithacon 45 while also learning how to plan different conventions and events. The class has broken up into various different teams covering public relations, social media, guest coordination, registration, cosplay, gaming, and much more. More information about guests and programming will be released in the coming week.
“Ithacon is not only a great convention, but it’s a great tradition. It’s an honor to be part of the team who work so hard to deliver an amazing show for both new and old fans,” said Professor Ed Catto of Ithaca College, who leads the course.
As we get closer to April 23, more information about guests and programming will be released on www.ithacon.org.
