Jon Favreau’s Iron Man has been given a May 2, 2008 release date,
making it the launchpad for 2008’s summer blockbusters.

May tends to be a
great month for Marvel. It’s top grossers and/or hottest properties have debuted
then. Spider-Man, X-Men 2, and X-Men: The Last Stand are examples. Next
year’s Spider-Man 3 is also slated for May release.

There’s no
word yet on who will star as Tony Stark in the upcoming film.
