Insight Studios Returns to Baltimore Comic-Con
The Insight Studios Group is bringing the core team and collaborators back to Baltimore Comic-Con to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Breathtaker. Baltimore Comic-Con is scheduled for October 17-19, 2025, at the Baltimore Convention Center.
This marks the first time in years that the Breathtaker creators will be together. Mark Wheatley, Marc Hempel, Mike Gold, Kathy Mix, as well as Jennifer Rouse and Glenn Hauman will be at the show for panels, signings, and the launch of the newly restored and expanded edition of Breathtaker (now available from Titan Comics). Insight Studios will also debut the exclusive convention only comic, Make Way for the Man.
“It’s not often that we get this many members of the Insight family together under one roof,” Wheatley, the Insight Studios founder, said. “It’s a creative reunion, a celebration, and a chance for fans to meet the folks who made Breathtaker a reality – past, present, and future.”
Wheatley is the creator behind Frankenstein Mobster, EZ Street, and Radical Dream. His art has appeared in Tarzan, Jonny Quest, Ultraman, he made art for Lady Gaga, and his work has appeared in print, television, film, and museum exhibits. He is an Eisner, Inkpot, Golden Lion, and Overstreet Hall of Fame honoree.
Hempel’s art has appeared in The Sandman, Gregory, and Tug & Buster, as well as MAD, Heavy Metal, Epic Illustrated, and Nickelodeon Magazine.
Gold is the co-founder of First Comics and former editorial director of DC Comics. He edited and developed titles like Jon Sable Freelance, Grimjack, The Question, American Flagg!, and he helped shape Breathtaker for the original release. He is also a recipient of the Hero Humanitarian of the Year Award.
Mix is an original member of Insight Studios and has worked behind the scenes on the creation and production of their comics and other projects. She was part of the development of Breathtaker and many other work from the studio.
Rouse is a composer, sound designer, and voice over artist who has worked in film, audio dramas, and multimedia productions. Her credits include Songs of Giants, The Death of Poe, and the Frankenstein Mobster audio drama.
Hauman is a writer, editor, technologist, activist, and the publisher behind ComicMix. He has supported independent creators through comics and digital publishing.
Insight Studios Group has been a part of the comics landscape for over 40 years with members providing work in titles like MAD, The Sandman, Lone Justice, Doctor Cyborg, and Blood of the Innocent.
“Insight Studio Group has been a staple of the Baltimore Comic-Con for many years, including our first,” Baltimore Comic-Con show promoter Marc Nathan said. “The team has been responsible for a great many indie titles of note, and you’ll want to make sure to check out this illustrious team of creators.”
