Incredible Hulk #1 sells for $32,500 on PedigreeComics.com
On Friday, February 22, 2008, an Incredible Hulk #1 in CGC certified 8.5 very fine plus condition sold for $32,500 on Pedigree Comics’ website. "The book has off-white to white pages," Pedigree’s owner Doug Schmell described, "plus it is perfectly centered and incredibly glossy, which is not very common for this issue".
Incredible Hulk #1 is one of the toughest and most desirable of all Silver Age Marvel keys to find in a high grade. Schmell explained that the buyer was, “impressed by the book’s registration, ink reflectivity, and white back cover, but the clincher for him was the near-white page quality, which is rare for copies of Incredible Hulk #1.”
According to Pedigree Comics, the sale represents a record price for Pedigree Comics for an Incredible Hulk #1 in CGC certified 8.5, the prior high sale being $29,000. Interest in the book has grown over the past year. Schmell sold a CGC certified 8.0 copy in October 2007 for a record $25,000, beating the prior highest sale of just under $17,000; and two 6.5 copies over the past year were both sold for $5,850.
Other Incredible Hulk books in the 100s, especially those graded CGC 9.6 and 9.4, have been selling well at pedigreecomics.com. If you have any Incredible Hulk books or other high grade Silver and Bronze Age Marvels to sell or consign, please contact Doug Schmell by emailing DougSchmell@pedigreecomics.com or call 561-422-1120.
