Oscar nominated costume designer Rosanna Norton died on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, after a long battle with bladder cancer. She was 80 years old.

Norton spent over 40 years working in the film industry, earning an Academy Award nomination for her work in the sci-fi classic Tron. She was also known for her costume work in Carrie, RoboCop 2, and The Flintstones live-action movie.

She was born Rosanna White in Los Angeles on October 1, 1944. She studied art at UCLA and began her career as a costume designer in 1971’s Cisco Pike. Her early work was in Badlands, Outlaw Blues, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, The Stunt Man, Airplane! and its sequel.

Through the ‘80s, Norton designed costumes for Get Crazy, Hard to Hold, Ruthless People, Innerspace, The Experts, The ‘Burbs, and Loverboy. Over the next decade she designed costumes for Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Frankie and Johnny, Angels in the Outfield, The Brady Bunch Movie, Casper, Operation Dumbo Drop, and Detroit Rock City.

Her last few movies included the Growing Up Brady TV movie, Out for a Kill, and The Pool Boys. After that, Norton returned to painting.
