Actor Ned Eisenberg, known for his role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, died on Sunday, February 27, 2022, after a battle with cancer. He was 65 years old.

In a statement his wife, actress Patricia Dunnock, said, “As Ned would say, he was attacked by two very rare assassins – cholangiocarcinoma and ocular melanoma. Over the course of two years, he bravely fought the cancers in private while continuing to work in show business to ensure that his medical coverage paid for himself and his family.”

A veteran character actor, Eisenberg portrayed defense attorney Roger Kressler on SVU as a recurring character from 2001 to 2019.

The New York City native was born January 13, 1957, and attended the Performing Arts High School. Eisenberg’s career began in theater with performances in Brighton Beach Memoirs, The Green Bird, and Golden Boy, and in ’87 he co-founded the Naked Angels theater company.

His big screen debut came in 1980’s The Exterminator, then he was in Deadly Force, and had a starring role in Key Exchange. In the late ‘80s, he was in Hiding Out and did multiple guest spots on The Equalizer and Miami Vice.

In the early ‘90s, Eisenberg starred in the short-lived series The Fanelli Boys with Joe Pantoliano and Christopher Meloni. That was followed by appearances on L.A. Law and New York Undercover, then he was in Primary Colors, Celebrity, did an episode of The Sopranos, and had a recurring role on the flagship Law & Order series.

Eisenberg’s work in the 2000s included NYPD Blue, Rescue Me, Million Dollar Baby, Flags of Our Fathers, and The Black Donnellys. He was in Limitless, then did many more guest spots on popular shows like Blue Bloods, 30 Rock, White Collar, Madam Secretary, The Good Wife, Person of Interest, Mare of Easttown, The Blacklist, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and his final role was in Adult Ed.
