Comic collector and longtime Overstreet Advisor Eric J. Groves passed away on July 12, 2025. He was 82 years old.

Groves was born on December 8, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA.

He was a lifelong fan of comic books and had a vast knowledge of film, music, and pop culture. He was known for sending Christmas cards featuring mystery stories, comics, and more.

Groves served in the US Army Intelligence Corps then he earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Oklahoma University Law School in 1970. He spent 54 years as a trial lawyer and started the law firm of Groves & Associates in 1999, which remained open until he retired.

“Eric was a valuable advisor for many years. I always appreciated his knowledge and support of the Guide. He will be greatly missed,” Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide publisher and writer Robert Overstreet said.
