Actor Donald Gibb, known for Revenge of the Nerds and Bloodsport, died on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, due to ongoing health issues. His son, Travis, confirmed his passing. Gibb was 71 years old.

Gibb was best known as the thickheaded fraternity bully Ogre in several Revenge of the Nerds movies. He also played the gruff, enthusiastic Kumite fighter Ray Jackson in Bloodsport with Jean-Claude Van Damme.

He was born on August 4, 1954, in New York City, then grew up in California. He attended the University of New Mexico on a basketball scholarship, then transferred to the University of San Diego where he earned a football scholarship. Gibb had a short NFL career with the San Diego Chargers, but it was cut short due to injury.

Gibb turned to acting with bit parts in Stripes and Conan the Barbarian, followed by guest spots in The A-Team and Magnum, P.I. After Revenge of the Nerds, he was in Meatballs Part II, he played the Wolfman in Transylvania 6-5000, and appeared in The Facts of Life, 227, and Night Court.

He starred in the TV series 1st & Ten, and he did guest spots in Renegade, The X-Files, and Boy Meets World. Gibb played Ray Jackson again for Bloodsport 2, and appeared in episodes of Weird Science and Step by Step. He starred in Durango Kids, Grind, Lightning Bug, Hancock, and his final role was in 2026’s Hands.
