A chainsaw-wielding warrior seeks peace in the vastness of space in Chainkata by writer-artist Daniel Warren Johnson (Transformers). The book will debut with multiple variant covers, including one by Rob Liefeld. The Image Comics founder and Deadpool co-creator uses his signature style to portray the intimidating hero and her massive weapon. Chainkata #1 will debut in November 2026.

“In Chainkata, Luma is a chainsaw-wielding warrior queen, seeking out an unknown power in the vastness of space. All she wants is to find peace, but violence and terror follow her through every black hole,” per the synopsis.

Image compared the book to the science fiction tales of Beta Ray Bill and Space-Mullet with the character building that Johnson did in Do a Powerbomb.

“Even when I was a kid, I could spot a Rob Liefeld cover the moment I walked into my local comic shop. His work has always been BOLD and FUN,” Johnson said. “Rob’s legendary status has only grown since I’ve gotten older, and his vocal love for my work has helped my career tremendously. Needless to say then, that him doing a cover for Chainkata feels like a full circle moment, and it’s something I’ll treasure forever. Thank you, Rob!!!!”

Chainkata #1 comes with multiple cover options, starting with the main cover A by Johnson. The variants include cover B black and white by Johnson, cover C sword and sorcery by Johnson, cover D by Riley Rossmo, cover E by Liefeld, cover F blank sketch, cover G 1:100 foil sword and sorcery by Johnson and Mike Spicer, cover H 1:100 raw art by Johnson, and cover I 1:1,000 original head sketch by Johnson.

Chainkata #1 will be in comic shops on November 18.
