I Hate Fairyland Variant Covers to Crossover on Image Titles
In honor of I Hate Fairyland’s milestone 50th issue, Image Comics has announced a month of crossover variant covers. Gert and her cohorts from Skottie Young’s I Hate Fairyland are following in the footsteps of Spawn, Youngblood, and Invincible with their own “I Hate Team-Ups” covers in April 2026.
Not only will the characters make cameos on the covers of Image’s ongoing series, those titles will also bear redesigned logos using the I Hate Fairyland style.
Created by Young and introduced in October 2015, I Hate Fairyland follows Gert Bashman, a woman trapped in a child’s body who is also stuck in a violent fantasy world that she has been trying to escape for almost 30 years. The book has sold out and gone back to print multiple times, becoming one of Image’s best selling ongoing titles, according to the publisher.
The crossover variant program begins on April 8 with Blood & Thunder #12 cover E by E.J. Su, D’orc #3 cover C and NSFW cover D by Brett Bean, Die Loaded #6 cover C and NSFW cover D by David Lafuente, and Spawn #374 cover C by Brett Booth.
Variants on April 15 are Fireborn #1 cover N and NSFW cover O by Patrick Mulholland, Invincible Universe Battle Beast #8 cover G by Ryan Ottley, Lost Fantasy #9 cover G and NSFW cover H by Vanessa Cardinali, Narco #2 cover C by Daniel Hillyard, and Witchblade #20 cover D by Giuseppe Cafaro.
Covers available on April 22 are Invincible Universe Capes #6 cover F by Mark Englert, Youngblood #100 cover M by Rob Liefeld, Corpse Knight #1 cover I, and Darkness vs. Angelus cover F by Pat Boutin.
The final group of I Hate Fairyland crossover variant covers are scheduled for April 29.
