The Summer Sale at Morphy’s totaled over $1.4 million. Last week Scoop
highlighted quite a few of the big money sales, but as with any auction,
there is a lot more fun once you start to dig inside the results.

When
you are looking through an auction as full as Morphy’s, it is easy to get lost
among the varied listings. This event saw them offering over 2,200 lots which
covered everything from mechanical banks to toys and over to cast iron figurals.
Customer from around the world visited the site on line and thousands more were
on hand for the live auction.

“Everyone loves a good total or an
outstanding sale such at the Roller Skating Mechanical Bank (which exceeded
expectations when it went for $29, 700)” said Dan Morphy, the COO of
Morphy Auctions. “However, we get just as big thrill when we see someone
smile as they look at a Japanese Batman Wind-up doll. The whole idea is to serve
the hobby of collecting. That is our number one goal.”
