Heroes Star James Kyson Lee at the L.A. Comic & Sci Fi Convention
Heroes, werewolves, and squid will be taking over the Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention next weekend. Held in the Shrine Hall at 700 West 32nd Street in Los Angeles on September 14, 2008, the L.A. convention boasts an exciting opportunity to meet celebrity actors, writers, and directors.
Headlining the show are James Kyson Lee who plays Ando Masahashi on NBC’s Heroes, and writer/director Joe Dougherity. They will be signing DVDs purchased at the con for their new film Akira’s Hip Hop Shop at 12:00 PM. In the drama-comedy, Lee plays Akira, a record shop owner who falls in love with Daphne, a young culinary student, but the story isn’t all rose colored when his family pressures him into returning to Japan.
Stars of the Sci Fi Channel’s movie War Wolves will be at the con signing autographs and previewing scenes of their movie at 1:00 PM. War Wolves, starring John Saxon (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Michael Worth, TimThomerson (Trancers), Art Lafleur, Siri Baruc, Natasha Alam, and Kristi Clainos, follows a group of soldiers who come home from the Middle East infected by a werewolf. Among the stars in the film is Adrienne Barbeau, who is known for her roles in Escape From New York, Creepshow, The Fog, Swamp Thing, and as the voice of Catwoman/Selina Kyle in Batman: The Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures, and the web series Gotham Girls. She recently co-wrote the novel Vampyres of Hollywood and will be signing copies purchased at the convention from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Making his first West Coast convention appearance is Rodger Bumpass, the voice of Squidward Tentacles in the hit kid’s animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, as well as the voice of Dr. Light in Teen Titans, and Professor Membrane in Invader Zim.
The Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention will also have large dealers room filled with comic books, anime merchandise, toys, and other collectibles will be set up. Admission is only $8, and children five years old and younger get in for free. Premium admission is $20 and includes full size movie posters for the James Bond flick Quantum of Solace and Rock N Rolla, starring Gerard Butler.
