The opening shot’s been fired. The lines have been drawn. The war has
begun.

And the countdown to Heroes for Hire (HFH) continues as we
catch up with Justin Gray, co-writer of the upcoming series. As momentum in the
Marvel Universe builds toward the need for “heroes for hire,” the characters of
both, Daughters of the Dragon and those who will star in HFH, are
being drawn together by the impact of a Civil War on the Marvel U. But Gray
isn’t choosing sides in this domestic disturbance.

“[I’m on] the same
side Misty and Colleen are on – the side that pays best,” said Gray. “I’m
leaving my personal politics at home and just enjoying working with an
outsider’s perspective of both Civil War and the metaphorical
implications. I’m a long-time Marvel fan so I can’t choose
sides.”

Working with Gray on the upcoming series is long-time
collaborator and co-writer, Jimmy Palmiotti, and Shi artist, Billy Tucci.
The three creators, who are very good friends, are putting a lot into making
this series the best Marvel relaunch in years.

“Billy’s enthusiasm is
infectious. We talk almost every day about design and layouts. He’s busting his
butt on this book and it shows,” said Gray. “I think each of us have something
to prove here in leaping into what may well be the biggest event we’ve seen at
Marvel in many years.”
