This past weekend, the 24th Annual Heroes Convention was held in
Charlotte, North Carolina. The convention saw an enormous turnout for all three
days, due in part to the rallying cry of creators and professionals to support
Shelton Drum’s Heroes Con over the previously announced Wizard World Atlanta
(which was cancelled due to the protest).

In addition to the attendance
that saw nearly 5000 people ushered through the door on both Friday and Sunday,
and more than double that on Saturday, the show lived up to its reputation as
being one of the best conventions in the country. With a guest list that
included both Marvel Comics and DC Comics Editors-in-chief Joe Quesada and Dan
Didio (respectively), Warren Ellis (Eternals) , J. Michael Straczynski
(Fantastic Four), Adam Hughes and Mike Wieringo, fans got their fill of
the latest news, upcoming projects and much more.

Buzz among fans and
creators on the show floor included the release of Bryan Singer’s Superman
Returns,
Straczynski hinting at taking on the relaunch of Thor and
the shocking ending of DC’s Brave New World.

It appears that
Shelton Drum certainly has the recipe for success: take 24 years of great
conventions, add some of the best creators and professionals in comics, stir in
some fun and serve to all to heaps of fans and you’ve got one great
show!
