Heritage’s 2014 Illustration Art Signature Auction is ending soon, so interested bidders are encouraged to have a look at the online catalogue before bidding ends. From classic pinups to science fiction portraits, there is a wide variety of pieces in this auction, which ends on October 18, 2014.

Among the many pin-up style pieces featured in this catalog are several by Gil Elvgren, one of the most important and influential pin-up artists of the 20th Century. Several Elvgren pieces are featured, including a number of calendar illustrations he did for Brown and Bigelow.

Another Brown and Bigelow artist, Earl Moran, is featured in this lineup. Moran’s pin-up style pastel piece of Marilyn Monroe, “Now This is Just Between You and Me,” features the icon sitting on a stool and leaves little to the imagination.

Standing out from the sea of gorgeous ladies, however, is Captain Kirk and Spock. The gouache piece of these two classic sci-fi characters was featured as the cover of STARLOG #1 and is dated to 1976. The Enterprise can be seen in the background, in front of an eclipse.
