When Heritage’s Video Games Signature Auction ended on October 29-31, 2021, a total of 17 lots saw six-figure results, driving the final total to $8,179,434.

A rare copy of The Legend of Zelda WATA 8.0 A sealed (NES TM, No Rev-A, first production) lead the auction at $705,000. From the true first production, it is the rarest and most desired variant of the game.

Super Mario Bros. WATA 9.4 A sealed (hangtab, 2 Code, mid-production) jumped to $492,000. Sealed hangtab copies of any NES game are in high demand, and this is the highest-graded – and just the second overall hangtab copy with the “2 Code” sub-variant ever offered through Heritage Auctions.

The sequel Super Mario Bros. 2 WATA 9.8 A+ sealed (Rev-A, Round SOQ, first production) closed at $324,000. This is the finest copy of any variant of the game that Heritage has offered.

Heritage sold a sealed copy of Sonic the Hedgehog WATA 9.6 A (made in Japan, early production) for $312,000. Sealed Sega game are in high demand and this copy surpassed the WATA 9.4 B+ that Heritage sold in May 2019.

Among the records set was one of less than ten sealed copies of Resident Evil WATA 9.6 A+ sealed (ridged longbox, first production) from The Dreamer Collection soared to $264,000.

The highest graded copy of Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! WATA 9.8 A++ sealed (oval SOQ TM, later production) set a new record at $312,000.

Another record was set when Pokémon Red Version WATA 9.8 A++ sealed (Sandshrew, first production) climbed to $156,000. This is the highest graded copy that Heritage has offered.

Just the second example Heritage has offered from the initial production of GoldenEye 007 WATA 9.8 A++ sealed sold for $192,000. This new total is ten times Heritage’s previous record of $19,200 that was set in July 2020.

Additional highlights from the auction were Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! WATA 9.4 A+ sealed (Rev-A, round SOQ, mid-production) for $216,000; GoldenEye 007 WATA 9.8 A++ sealed for $192,000; The Legend of Zelda WATA 9.6 A+ sealed (oval SOQ TM, later production) for $156,000; and Super Mario Bros. WATA 9.4 A sealed (Rev-A, round SOQ, mid-production) for $150,000.
