Historical memorabilia from our country’s first President is hard enough to
come by. Imagine having a three-page, hand-written letter signed by George
Washington in your collection. You will have that chance, as will every other
collector, when Heritage-Slater opens bidding for the item on April 13,
2005.

This three-page letter, written entirely in Washington’s hand,
gives us an interesting insight into the mind and character of our first
President,” said Tom Slater, Director of HSA. “Dated March 21, 1796, and penned
during Washington’s term as President, the letter, addressed to Tobias Lear,
discusses the disposition of a vacant building lot owned by Washington.”

The letter is part of the 2005 April Historical Manuscript and
Autographs Auction. The auction is scheduled to contain many other fantastic
lots, but this one really stands out among them. The letter can be viewed in
detail at http://www.heritagegalleries.com/common/prlink.php?Sale_No=611&Lot_ID_No=1031.
