
Heritage Sells McFarlane Batman Cover for Record $781K
On October 17, 2025, Heritage hosted the Keif Fromm Collection Comic Art Auction, offering works by Golden Age greats like Mac Raboy to modern masters like Todd McFarlane. The auction set multiple records on comic covers and interior pages on its way to a $3,678,064 total.
Todd McFarlane’s Batman #423 cover led the way when it sold for $781,250. This is the only Batman cover that McFarlane ever created and it set a new record for a McFarlane cover offered at auction.

Fromm was especially known for his collection of Golden Age art and pieces offered in this auction performed very well. Raboy’s Master Comics #27 Captain Marvel Jr. “V for Victory” cover sold for $337,500, Lou Fine’s Hit Comics #5 Red Bee cover reached $275,000, C.C. Beck’s Whiz Comics #19 cover went for $118,750, and Jack Cole’s Silver Streak Comics #10 story page 1 featuring Daredevil and the Claw brought $112,500. All four artworks set auction records for their respective artists.
Fantasy master Frank Frazetta was represented in the auction with The Ghost Rider #5 cover that went for $437,500. The art features the Wild West hero swinging from a rope out of the line of fire while carrying a woman along for the ride.
“The phenomenal success of this auction is a testament to Keif’s incredible eye for the best of the best quality comic art,” Heritage Executive Vice President Joe Maddalena said. “That combined with Heritage’s reputation and international reach resulted in multiple world records for these artists.”
