The stars were out in full force for Heritage’s Hollywood & Entertainment Signature Auction. The event on July 13-17, 2026, produced multiple records on its way to an auction total of $14,098,033. Items connected to Luke Skywalker, Dirty Harry, and the Wicked Witch of the West were among the biggest sales.

“This auction showed the passion collectors have for the most iconic items in entertainment history,” Heritage Executive Vice President Joe Maddalena said. “These artifacts allow fans to hold a piece of our shared modern mythology, whether it’s the weapon that symbolizes the hero of an iconic franchise, the paper on which a generation-defining musician poured their genius into a beloved song or promotional material for a landmark cinematic achievement. It is rare for items like these to become available to collectors, and bidders clearly recognized this auction presented an incredible opportunity.”

Mark Hamill’s screen-used Luke Skywalker lightsaber and severed hand effects rig from The Empire Strikes Back reached $3,750,000, setting a new record for a screen-used Star Wars prop. It was used during the famous Cloud City duel with Darth Vader in which the Sith Lord revealed that he was Luke’s father. It has been preserved for decades and has never been publicly offered before now.

This sale marks Heritage’s third Star Wars auction record. They sold the most valuable filming model when the screen-matched Red Leader X-wing soared to $3.135 million in 2023. Their other record is for most valuable original art, set when Tom Jung’s original half-sheet painting for A New Hope went for $3.875 million in 2025.

Two other iconic movie weapons took aim at large auction results. The Smith & Wesson Model 29-2 hero revolver that Clint Eastwood used as detective Harry Callahan in Sudden Impact – including the moment when he warned, “Go ahead, make my day” – realized $206,250. The flintlock pistol that Johnny Depp used as Captain Jack Sparrow in the second through fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movies achieved $68,750.

John Lennon’s handwritten manuscript lyrics for the 1964 song “If I Fell” hit the high note of $656,250. Lennon wrote the lyrics on the backside of a Valentine’s Day card while traveling to New York for the Beatles’ first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Margaret Hamilton’s Wicked Witch of the West hat from The Wizard of Oz went for a cackle-worthy $550,000. The conical black hat with silk scarf was screen-worn by Hamilton as she played one of film’s most iconic and frightening villains.

Gene Wilder’s photo-matched Willy Wonka top hat from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory went for a record $350,000. Coming from the collection of director Mel Stuart, the hat is one of only two known to have been used in production. A golden ticket prop from the movie fetched a sweet $137,500.

Both hero rugs from The Big Lebowski were offered publicly for the first time, selling for $375,000. A signature Starfleet tunic that was worn by William Shatner as Captain Kirk in the second season of Star Trek sold for a record $325,000. Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) dragon eggs and chest used in Game of Thrones realized $312,500. The screen-matched hero Otto the Autopilot prop from Airplane! flew to $200,000.

A collection of Back to the Future Part II hoverboards with examples of every design seen in the film, including Marty McFly’s screen-matched pink Mattel hoverboard, were offered. The one used for special effects flying shots cleared $125,000 and one used for close-up shots totaled $87,500.
