Hasbro Rare G.I. Joe Exclusive at Comic-Con
During the late ’80s, Hasbro’s elaborate G.I. Joe playsets were a runaway hit and an iconic part of that decade. However, one of the most popular and rarest sets, dating back to 1982, was actually made almost entirely of cardboard. Now, Hasbro is reviving the set as an exclusive for Comic-Con 2017 in San Diego.
The revived G.I. Joe Cobra Missile Command Headquarters comes with reproductions of the three figures sold with the original playset, including a Cobra Officer, a Cobra Trooper, and Cobra Commander. The original figures were lacking the articulated elbows of these reproductions, but otherwise Hasbro has worked hard to make this set the perfect nostalgia trip. They even gave the box a weathered look so it appears as if it’s been sitting in your parent’s basement for decades.
Hasbro’s recreation of the set still uses cardboard, but with recreated graphics. It will be available at Hasbro’s Comic-Con booth 3329 and later on HasbroToyShop.com for $50.
Want to bring G.I. Joe home even sooner? You’re in luck, Hake’s Americana & Collectibles Auction #221 is open for bidding. Included in the exciting auction is the Kevin Watts G.I.
