Hake’s Premier Auction #245 Begins October 28
Hake’s will present 1,592 lots of pop culture and Americana collectibles in their third premier auction of the year. Political material, comic books, action figures, historical items, concert posters and more will be offered in Auction #245. It opens for bidding on October 28, 2025, and is scheduled to close on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 18-19.
Marvel’s mutant heroes lead the auction with X-Men #1 CGC 9.2, a high grade copy of the first appearances of the X-Men, Professor X, and Magneto. Another important Marvel key is Amazing Spider-Man #1 CGC 6.5, the hero’s first self-titled book, with the debut of J. Jonah Jameson and the retelling of Spider-Man’s origin.
The volume goes up with the Grateful Dead FD-26-OP-1 “Skeleton & Roses” original printing concert poster, featuring art by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley. Another rock star lot is the Nirvana “Love Buzz”/“Big Cheese” sub pop singles #1 original pressing 7” vinyl single. It is one of only 1,200 produced for release in 1988.

The action figure section is filled with rare, desirable toys from multiple popular lines. The Transformers Series 1 Optimus Prime AFA 85 (registered logo) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Scratch Series 6 54-back AFA 80 are both among the most coveted figures from their series.
The Star Wars toy section includes a Jawa 12-back-A AFA 85+ vinyl cape variety from the early release before the cape was switched to one made of cloth. The Power of the Force Luke Skywalker (Imperial Stormtrooper outfit) first shot/photo sample figure AFA 75 is the only AFA graded example.

This auction features important, rare Disney items with examples from the Philip Samuels Collection. Mickey and Minnie Mouse on Motorcycle 1930 Tipp & Co. tin wind-up toy is considered one of the most desirable Disney toys. Mickey Mouse 1930s German wind-up with moving mouth tin litho toy with built-in key on the back is the rarest Mickey wind-up toy.
One of the finest known examples of the Cox and Roosevelt 1920 jugate button is in the political section. A significant historical item is the Kent State Shooting Apology document signed by Governor Jim Rhodes and Guardsmen from an out of court settlement. The document refers to the students that were wounded and killed on May 4, 1970, when National Guardsmen opened fire on unarmed students who were protesting the US invasion of Cambodia.
These items and many more will soon be open for bidding at hakes.com.
