Hake’s Offers Western Heroes
other western titles are going to be part of the next Hake’s auction. Scheduled
to begin on August 24, the auction is going to feature over 200 GCG-graded comic
books. Of special note will be the first issue of Hopalong Cassidy.
Published by Fawcett in 1943, the book is graded 9.2 and part of the Vancouver
collection.
Other books will include a nice run of Gene Autry from both
his early days at Fawcett and his later run when Dell picked up the book. The
Dell covers usually had a great looking photo-cover, but those early Fawcetts
had some really nice art on the cover. Making a choice as to which publisher put
out the better book is like comparing apples and oranges, they both are equally
great. Considering how many of these books are pedigreed, the choice becomes
even harder.
The wide variety of westerns is just going to be a fraction
of what Hake’s will be listing. There will be a solid selection of Golden Age
Batmans, as well as some very interesting issues of Detective.
For complete details, please make sure that you visit www.hakes.com. While comics are nice
part of the listings, there are going to be close to 3,000 items total. They
will range from political buttons to a very early original Peanuts Sunday
strip. Visiting the Hake’s site is like seeing the History Channel on your
computer screen.
