Hake’s Facebook Page Update
Offering sneak peeks at their auction #213, Hake’s Americana & Collectibles have posted some awesome items on their Facebook page. This week Hake’s posted a scarce Jimi Hendrix British fan club button and a selection of original art by legendary Mad cartoonist and illustrator Jack Davis. They also have Mickey Mouse original daily strips including three great 1930s Floyd Gottfredson drawn daily strips and animation art including the extremely rare original hand painted animation cels from the 1934 Mickey Mouse cartoon Two-Gun Mickey.
Coming up in the auction is an advertising sign for Blue Coal, “America’s Finest Anthracite” that dates to 1955, a button commemorating World War I featuring President Woodrow Wilson and General John J. Pershing, original art from Sandman #48 for the storyline written by Neil Gaiman with art by Jill Thompson and inks by Vince Locke, and a 1949 Fo-Lee Gum premium Superman badge in choice condition.
Highlighted on their Facebook page are a Yellow Kid button spotlighting Germany as issued by Admiral Cigarettes in 1897, a great Halloween pull toy/candy container featuring a jack-o-lantern and a Halloween cat, and a selection of Coca-Cola items such as a Coca-Cola Fountain Service. Commemorating the anniversary of the first publication of the Peanuts comic strip, Hake’s featured an early Peanuts button promoting the strip in Newsday. They’ll also have a Batman #65 featuring a great Catwoman cover.
