From a copy of Famous Funnies Carnival of Comics in 1933 to a copy
of Star Wars #1 published in 1977, the current Hake’s Auction has
something for collectors or every age. The number of CGC-graded books is
phenomenal. There are over 200 listed.

Famous Funnies Carnival of
Comics
#nn was originally a give-away/premium. It has no date given, no
publisher, nor no number. Thirty-two pages big, it contains strip reprints of
Mutt and Jeff, Reg’lar Fellers, Hairbreadth Harry, Strange as it Seems, Joe
Palooka, Dixie Dugan, Keeping up with the Joneses
and others. While no
publisher is listed, it is considered to have been made by the Eastern Color
Printing Company. The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide lists the book as
a promotional book. It was sold by M.C. Gaines to Wheatena, Milk-O-Malt, John
Wanamaker, Kinney Shoe Stores and others to be given away as premiums and also
radio giveaways. This is a true historical artifact that cannot be ignored by a
collector of any age.

Every collector has his own personal favorites. If
you love painted covers, there is a nice selection of War comics that features
some of the best looking painted covers ever see. When you visit the site,
please make sure that you take an extra minute to check out the issues of
Heroic Comics being offered. In addition to the wonderful painted covers,
several of them are from distinctive and important
pedigrees.

Speaking of pedigrees, another impressive aspect of the
auction is the high number of pedigreed books listed. There are issues from the
Mile High Collection, San Francisco, Allentown, and Crowley to just name a few.

For complete details, please visit www.hakes.com. The comic section of the
auction is scheduled to close on Thursday, April 21.
