Last weekend, Hake’s Americana & Collectibles made a strong showing
at the Atlantique City show. This week, Hake’s representative Mike Bollinger
reports his impressions of the show and its offerings. Take a look.

Attending the Atlantique City Antique and Collectibles show in Atlantic
City, New Jersey with Hake’s Americana & Collectibles to promote our
upcoming April auction, I had some spare time to wander the aisles and take in
the sights. Talk about a lot to take in. The show itself was held in the
Atlantic City Convention Center and covered an area around ten acres in size and
held countless booths with thousands of items.
Many different types of antiques and collectibles were represented at the
show. From antique furniture and jewelry to vintage paintings and clothing, this
show had it all. China, glassware, silver goods, statuary, ceramics, cast iron
of all kinds, toys, sports memorabilia were in abundance. One could find
postcards, Deco lighting, phonographs, Asian antiquities, books, dolls, comic
books, movie posters, holidays items, antique canes, rugs of various sizes and
textures, robots and Disneyana around every corner. Some items of particular
interest were a child’s barber chair with the front half of a wooden horse
attached to help put the child at ease, a south pacific totem pole, and several
cannons. That’s just a small sampling of the wonders that were on display. To go
more in depth, you the reader would still be reading when the show comes around
again in October!
One could also attend sessions where appraisals were being conducted or,
you could meet three of the original Wizard of Oz Munchkins, who were talking
and signing all things Oz. All in all, the show was a success and a pleasure to
attend.
