Guardians of the Galaxy Becomes Third Highest Grossing Marvel Movie
Guardians of the Galaxy, the movie featuring a talking raccoon-like creature and a walking, talking tree has surpassed Iron Man as the third highest grossing Marvel Studios film in domestic box office totals. The ragtag collection of heroes and ruffians who come together to form an unlikely team has done well in the troubled domestic box office, grossing $319 million after its ninth week in theaters.
Currently the only two Marvel movies that are more successful are The Avengers with a total of $623 million and Iron Man 3 with $409 million. Guardians of the Galaxy’s worldwide total of $644.3 million has it poised to surpass Thor: The Dark World Marvel’s fourth highest grossing movie worldwide which has made $644.8 million worldwide.
Marvel has been so confident in the movie starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, and voice acting by Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper that before the first film was released they already announced a sequel at Comic-Con: San Diego that will be out in 2017.
