When Len Wein devised Swamp Thing while riding the subway through Queens, he never imagined that the character would go on to star in no less than seven comic book series, two motion pictures, two television series, and two video games. Swamp Thing originally appeared in House of Secrets #92 and was quickly reworked into a heroic figure for his debut solo book by Bernie Wrightson, the Master of the Macabre.

“This piece is striking and, arguably, the greatest image ever drawn of Swamp Thing,” ComicConnect Director of Consignments Rob Reynolds said. “This piece is the defining moment of the character’s creation. Juxtaposed between man and nature, Wrightson’s incredibly detailed use of contrasting deep blacks and negative space breathe life into this classic page of comic book history.”

The auction house told Scoop that this is a rare opportunity to own one of the all-time greatest pages of Swamp Thing, by the legend who first drew him almost 45 years ago.

The auction end-dates are as follows:
Session 1 (original art and memorabilia) will close December 7, 2015
