He designed the Munster Coach, TV’s Batmobile, KITT from Knight
Rider and a host of other legendary vehicles. Now, his personal collection
of superstar cars is going up for auction on May 14 at Bonhams and Butterfields.

The May auction will take place in a most appropriate setting. Los
Angeles’ Petersen Automotive Museum (at Fairfax and Wilshire Blvds.), will host
the event. The illustrated auction catalog will be online for review and
purchase in the coming weeks at www.butterfields.com. A preview of
the cars on offer will open to the public on Thursday, May 12,
2005.

Among the cars to be auctioned are the famous General Lee from
The Dukes of Hazzard, a1975 Ford Gran Torino with the identifiable white
swoop that started life as a stand-in of the car used in TV’s Starsky &
Hutch, The jalopy from the Beverly Hillbillies, and the 1964 Ford designed
after the Ford seen in Grease.
