Graveyard Club: Fresh Blood #1
BOOM! Studios; $9.99
In September 2024, R.L. Stine and artist Carola Borelli introduced a group of teenagers whose graveyard pranks get out of control, turning violent and dangerous. Parker, Patti, Trip, and Rhonda, aka the Graveyard Club, are still reeling from the disturbing things that happened in the previous semester. Having learned a little about the disappearances of Parker and Rhonda’s fathers, the group is determined to find out more.
When Parker and Rhonda discover that their dads were last seen at a hotel that is now abandoned, they head out to investigate. Once there, the kids learn an awful secret that even their two best friends might not believe.
The second entry in Stine’s Graveyard Club is split between the teenagers behaving like juvenile delinquents and trying to figure out what is happening in the town of Graves End. The boredom and isolation that can occur in small town life are the main themes in this book. The teens keep getting into trouble because they don’t have anything else to do, and people are afraid to talk about the strange occurrences they witness, choosing ignorance instead of confrontation. This story answered the big questions, but left the door open for more tales at Graves End.
The large-sized issue also comes with plenty of extra content, starting with Borelli’s layouts. The back material also includes reprints of Stine’s Stuff of Nightmares stories “Red Murder” and “Slay Ride.”
