Grand Reopening: Cards, Comics & Collectibles
Cards, Comics and Collectibles held their grand reopening weekend at their new location right on historic Main Street in Reisterstown, Maryland on November 24-26, 2017. The celebration coincided nicely with the store’s annual Thanksgiving Sale, which meant that the store was full of comic fans of all ages throughout the weekend.
The reopening ceremony featured appearances from local delegates and legislators who were on hand for a formal ribbon-cutting. Comic artist Frank Cho (Totally Awesome Hulk, Liberty Meadows) was also present in the store on Saturday for autographs and to chat with fans. Though the weekend was a success, there was a brief hiccup on Saturday when the store was forced to close early due to a car accident immediately outside the building, which took out a lamp post and knocked down power lines. Fortunately, no one was injured and the store reopened for business on time on Sunday.
The building that the store is now housed in was formerly a movie theater, and store owner Marc Nathan alongside his staff and family have worked diligently to restore and update many of the unique architectural elements in the building. These included adding new colored lights around the art deco glass star on the ceiling as well as restoring the floor mosaic where the theater lobby once was. More work on the building is planned, such as updating the marquee – and getting it in working order for the first time in more than half a century.
Scoop congratulates Marc and the entire Cards, Comics and Collectibles team for a successful reopening in their new location at 51 Main Street and looks forward to seeing them in historic Reisterstown for years to come.
