Godzilla is stomping his way through the City of Angels for a good cause. IDW Publishing’s charity issue Godzilla Vs America: Los Angeles has raised $40,000 to help comic shops and book stores that were impacted by the recent wildfires.

All of the proceeds from orders of the book went to the Binc Foundation to help store owners and employees who are dealing with the aftermath of the fires that tore through Los Angeles and surrounding areas in January 2025.

“Godzilla has always been a symbol of unstoppable force, and today, we’re channeling that energy into something positive. Thanks to the support of our readers and retail partners, IDW is proud to donate $40,000 from the sales of Godzilla Vs. Los Angeles to Binc,” IDW Publishing VP Marketing Aub Driver said. “This contribution will directly support independent bookstores and comic shops recovering from the devastating fires. These stores are the heart of our LA community, and we’re honored to stand with them in their time of need.”

“It is extraordinary acts like this one from IDW and Toho that change lives,” Binc Executive Director Pamela French said. “Thank you for using your Godzilla-sized power for good!”

Each issue of Godzilla Vs America follows the King of the Monsters as he travels to different cities in the US. The stories are told by comic creators from those cities, with the LA tales by Gabriel Hardman, Jordan Morris, Nicole Goux, Dave Baker, J. Gonzo, Scott Hannah, Heather Breckel, and Sandy Tanaka.

Godzilla’s next stop on his tour of America is Boston, which will arrive in stores on July 30.
