FUNimation Entertainment has released some details on Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie. This marks the first new Ghost movie in ten years, which has fans clambering for more news on the upcoming project.

It will screen in the U.S. and Canada on November 10, 11, and 16, 2015 in at least 330 theaters. Fans can purchase tickets for the movie at ghostintheshellnewmovie.com.

The story is set in a futuristic Japan when science has made significant leaps forward, after a world war. People are now given the opportunity to prolong their lives by using cybernetics. But, with humanity linked into a system of minds – ghosts – they are under constant threat of cyber terrorists who can take over their minds.

After a virus called Fire-Starter spreads through the system and kills the Japanese Prime Minister, Major Motoko Kusanagi and her team must find the source. The ensuing investigation leads to discoveries of government corruption.

A live-action version is currently in the works in the U.S. Set for a March 2017 release, it will be directed by Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) and feature Scarlett Johansson (Avengers, Lucy).
