As we reported in the September 21, 2007 edition of Scoop, the comic book industry had the spotlight on the national stage Thursday night, September 20, 2007, as Steve Geppi, President and Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Comic Distributors, was one of three guests of honor at the Woodrow Wilson International Scholars of the Smithsonian Institution. He was presented with the prestigious Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship.

Geppi was recognized for his distinguished business career and his extensive community involvement. Other honorees included Robert Fischell and Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, both of whom received the Award for Public Service.

The ceremony was held at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore and the dinner was co-chaired by Paul Levitz, President and Publisher of DC Comics, and Wayne Rogers, Chairman of Synergics. Fellow co-chairman William Kirwan, Ph.D., Chancellor of the University System of Maryland, handled the closing remarks.
