Gemstone’s Carnaval Canard
same old fifty states? Then take a Brazilian vacation with Donald Duck and Uncle
Scrooge — courtesy of Gemstone’s Walt Disney comics, of course. The excitement
awaits in Donald Duck Adventures Take-Along Comic 13 — a $7.95, 128-page
manga format book holding three great Disney adventures. Having shipped to
comics shops July 27, it should be arriving near you this week or
next.
“Mask of the Mardi Gras” is our feature story… as
well as the “vacation” of which we spoke! Of course, with Uncle
Scrooge aboard, it’s one of those working vacations. Donald wants to
slack off and enjoy Rio during Carnaval, but Scrooge has him and the nephews
busy protecting an ancient South American tribal mask. Until it’s stolen, that
is… and with the Beagle Boys and Argus McSwine all in the mix, you know the
battle for its recovery will be legion. Follow ducks and clucks on an exciting
chase around Brazil, written by Dave Rawson and drawn by José
Manrique.
Mickey Mouse is up next in “Mouse by Mousewest.” At
least, we think it’s Mickey Mouse. So why are crooked counter-spies and a
whole Army platoon calling him… Jake? The answers will take you from
Mouseton to the farthest reaches of the galaxy, where Mickey ends up a captive
audience to the world’s first space shuttle theft! Stefan Petrucha (The
X-Files) is writer for this adventure, with Spanish Disney pundit Miguel
Martinez handling the art.
Our final story this month is “Scrooge’s
Feeling for Ice,” with miserly McDuck taking the lead. When Scrooge’s
Arctic researchers report a shocking discovery, even Scrooge isn’t prepared for
how much of a shock it will be! Frozen within an iceberg — with
unshakeable evidence that they’ve been there for thousands of years — are exact
duplicates of Scrooge and Donald, dressed in 21st century clothing!
How could this be? Writer John Blair Moore and artist José Carrion will
bring you the answers!

Duck Adventures, Gemstone is also your source for standard size and prestige
