Gambit and Wraith Cast in Wolverine
Filming has started for X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Scoop would like to provide fans salivating for any tidbit of movie information, a new morsel: two more people have been added to the cast. The character of kinetic energy manipulating Gambit has finally been cast. Canadian born actor Taylor Kitsch is set to take the role. Kitsch made his big screen debut in John Tucker Must Die in 2006, followed quickly by Snakes on a Plane, occult suspense hit The Covenant, and he stars in NBC’s Friday Night Lights. The other new addition is rapper Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas, making his feature acting debut. He’ll play Wraith, a mutant who turns himself translucent.
Origins tells the story of Wolverine’s violent and sometimes romantic past, his relationship to Victor Creed, and the Weapon X program leading up to his connection with the X-Men. Throughout his journey, Wolverine, AKA Logan, meets other mutants, with several cameos by legends in the X-Men universe.
Presented by 20th Century Fox and directed by Gavin Hood X-Men Origins will be released May 1, 2009. The movie stars Hugh Jackman in his fourth outing as the claw-bearing short-tempered nearly indestructible Wolverine. Kitsch joins the rest of the cast including Liev Schreiber of The Manchurian Candidate and the Scream series as Sabertooth, Danny Huston from 30 Days of Night as William Stryker, Lynn Collins from The Lake House as Silver Fox, and Ryan Reynolds from Van Wilder is set for a cameo as Deadpool.
