Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) is back on Saturday, May 2, 2026. The annual holiday celebrates the comic book industry with comic shops giving away free comics to customers. The big name publishers and indies provide free issues, showcasing their popular heroes and introduce new characters, tease upcoming storylines or provide a sampler of their current events.

To make the event more exciting, participating stores typically offer sales on their inventory, host creator signings, and gaming competitions. The yearly holiday attracts regular readers, those who are returning to the hobby, and those who have never read comics before. FCBD takes place every year on the first Saturday in May.
