Several new release dates have been announced by 20th Century Fox, including multiple movies from the X-Men franchise as well as a long-anticipated video game-based title. Probably the most significant announcement is that the Gambit film will be released on October 7, 2016.

Gambit, announced in 2014, will feature Channing Tatum as the title character, and will make 2016 a major year for X-Men. The other major X-Men spinoff film is Deadpool, which will star Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson and was already scheduled for a February 2016 release. The next main installment in the franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse, will release in May 2016, and the next solo Wolverine movie will release in March 2017.

The Assassin’s Creed film also now has a definite release date: December 21, 2016. The film, which is based on the video game franchise of the same name, will star Michael Fassbender in the lead role. The setting of the film will also differ from that of the games – which have ranged from the Italian Renaissance to Colonial America to the French Revolution – and instead take place during the Spanish Inquisition.

Fox also moved the release of the next Planet of the Apes film to July 14, 2017, and also moved the second film of the planned Fantastic Four reboot series to June 2017.
