First X-Men, Captain America’s Origin Retold in Heritage Auction
In Heritage’s Sunday & Monday Comics, Animation, & Art Weekly Online Auction, collectors have the opportunity to add the first X-Men and the retelling of Captain America’s origin.
X-Men #1 CGC 2.0 houses the debuts and origins of powerful mutants like X-Men team members Professor X, Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, Beast, and Marvel Girl, and their nemesis Magneto. The issue, with art and cover by Jack Kirby, is ranked No. 8 on Overstreet’s Top 50 Silver Age Comics list.
Cap’s origin is retold in Captain America #100 CGC 8.0, which also features an appearance by the Black Panther. The issue is the first of the title, assuming the numbering continued over from Tales of Suspense. The bold cover is by Jack Kirby, who collaborated with Syd Shores to provide the issue’s art.
This auction contains 900 lots of comics, original art, and memorabilia. Comics close on Sunday, May 10, 2020 and other memorabilia closes on Monday, May 11. Bidding opens at 6 PM CT on HA.com.
