Nicolas Cage has played many memorable, larger than life characters throughout his career, and now he is stepping into the gumshoes of a superhero. The Oscar winner is set to play Spider-Man Noir in Prime Video’s live-action series, Spider-Noir.

Prime Video released the first image of Cage suited up and ready for action. The black and white photo shows Cage in a black ensemble from his hat and mask to his jacket, sweater, and gloves. The one contrast is his bright white goggles.

The TV series features Spider-Man Noir as an aging, down and out private investigator who wrestles with his past life and his present attempts to be New York’s superhero.

Spider-Man Noir was created by David Hine, Fabrice Sapolsky, and Carmine Di Giandomenico, as part of the Marvel Noir miniseries. Set during the Great Depression era, Spider-Man takes on New York’s criminal underworld led by Norman Osborn.

This is the second time Cage has played the character, though it’s the first time in live-action. He originated the role by voicing Spider-Man Noir in the hit animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot will act as co-showrunners, who developed the series with the Into the Spider-Verse team of Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. All five will be executive producers, along with Harry Bradbeer, who will direct the first two episodes.

Joining Cage in the cast are Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Andrew Lewis Caldwell, Li Jun Li, Jack Huston, Abraham Popoola, and Karen Rodriguez. Spider-Noir will debut on Prime Video in 2026, and will be available to view in black and white or in color.
