Jason Momoa is back at DC, and he’s traded his trident for a chained hook. Warner Brothers released a new TV spot teaser for Supergirl that quickly summarizes Kara Zor-El’s state of mind and gives audiences their first real look at Jason Momoa as Lobo.

The 30-second trailer contains new and previously seen footage, starting with Supergirl (Milly Alcock) and Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley) being surrounded by weapon-totting bad guys. Unconcerned by the odds, Kara takes them out one by one, then we see her waiting at a transport station, followed by Krypto looking curious and adorable. Ruthye asks Kara about the loss of Krypton, and the latter reveals that the planet was not destroyed quickly like some people think.

Then viewers see Lobo (Jason Momoa) emerging through a fire on his trusty motorcycle, chomping on a cigar, and brandishing his signature chained hook. The trailer gives a close-up of the Main Man and shows him driving through a crowd, knocking people out of his way.

Supergirl is based on the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, in which Supergirl and a young alien named Knolle travel throughout the galaxy to find Krem of the Yellow Hill, who killed Knolle’s father.

Alcock debuted in the role of Supergirl via a cameo in 2025’s Superman in which she drunkenly stumbles into the Fortress of Solitude to pick up Krypto. The brief scene and the footage that has followed points to Supergirl being lighter in tone than Superman’s more dramatic setting.

Momoa is well known for playing Aquaman in three DC movies before James Gunn and Peter Safran became co-heads of DC Studios. When they took over, film plans were redrawn and replotted, with plans to recast the principal characters. Gunn had stated that some of those actors could still appear in future projects, but in different roles. Momoa is the first to make that transition.

Supergirl is directed by Craig Gillespie (Cruella) and written by Ana Nogueira. It also stars Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Eyes, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze.

The movie soars into theaters on June 26, 2026
